This is a definitely a moderate/strenuous hike. The trail is clearly marked. It’s very rocky in spots and there are steps to climb. According to my Apple Watch this is closer to a 2 mile hike each …Full review by 448jillh

Even the drive to Estes Park to get to Lumpy Ridge Trailhead from Loveland was beautiful. The hike was hard but so worth it, beautiful views of Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park and Gem Lake.…Full review by robsR6939LC

We didn't even make it to the lake. My kids 11,12, and 17 climbed the rocks surrounding the parking lot for three hours. Awesome grippy granite boulders in this part of the park. …

We didn't even make it to the lake. My kids 11,12, and 17 climbed the rocks surrounding the parking lot for three hours. Awesome grippy granite boulders in this part of the park. Apparently, further in are very popular bouldering spots for the locals.
