Patoka is the fourth largest town and sixth largest community in Gibson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 735 at the 2010 census. Patoka was laid out and platted in 1813. The town's name comes from an Indian word meaning "log on bottom", on account of the many muddy logs at the bottom of the river.
