Hi..I read your review that you wrote below. Do you remember who your private tour was with on this excursion. We stopped here with a private guide and didn't really know what to expect, it was the end of the day and we were a bit tired. Our guide got the key and the first amazing thing was that he let me in to the bell tower to ring the bell (just once so not to upset the neighbors too much - see image of steps). It was just the three of us, so I helped to lift the hatch to the actual crypt so we could go inside. It isn't often that one has the opportunity to be so close to historical events and figures in such an intimate space. It is well worth the stop even if only to walk around the graveyard. This was a highlight of our trip.
