As with any forest location, it is best to keep your wits about you and be aware of your surroundings, but if you are just looking to drive up to the park, walk down the paved path to the overlook, then yes, you'd be very safe alone most any time of the day. If you are looking to then walk the dirt trail from the overlook all the way down to Kinzua beach (or start at the beach and hike up), then I wouldn't go too early/ too late in the day alone. We have heard plenty of critters, and have seen a fox or two, some deer and of course assorted little creatures. This is one of my favorite places to be, the sights are worth the walk. Take your time, stop and take it all in along the way. Enjoy!
