The BJP on Saturday released its first list of 29 candidates for the polls to the 70-member Delhi Assembly, fielding former MP Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi seat against ex-chief minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.

The BJP has named 29 candidates in its first list. The 70-member Delhi Assembly will go into polls in 2025 but the Election Commission of India is yet to announce the dates. As per reports, the polls might be conducted in February this year.

The BJP named former South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri against Chief Minister Atishi from Kalkaji. The party also fielded former Aam Aadmi Party minister Kailash Gahlot as its candidate from Bijwasan and former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar.

Prominent names in the list include former West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma, who will take on AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi. Former South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri is set to challenge Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, while ex-AAP minister Kailash Gahlot has been fielded from Bijwasan, moving away from his traditional Najafgarh seat.
