Last week, President Donald Trump paused TikTok's nationwide ban in the U.S., after the Supreme Court ordered it be shut down due to national security concerns over its ties to the Chinese government. This could potentially enable Beijing to access user data and influence American users.

On his first day in office, President Donald Trump issued an executive order to pause the TikTok ban for 75 days. Trump's order says the attorney general "shall not take any action to enforce the Act" passed by Congress. That will give Trump's administration "an opportunity to determine the appropriate course of action."

Donald Trump said he will issue an executive order delaying a ban on TikTok when he becomes president on Monday, and proposed the United States take 50 per cent ownership in the Chinese-owned app's American subsidiary.
