King Charles and Queen Camilla received a red carpet welcome as they touched down in Rome, Italy, for a state visit that will coincide with their wedding anniversary.

On Thursday, the King and Queen will travel to Ravenna, near Bologna, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of that city and the province from Nazi occupation, alongside British and Canadian armed forces, and together with Italy's President, Mattarella.

After being discharged from the hospital two weeks ago, Pope Francis held a private audience with the royal couple and shared his “best wishes” as they celebrate two decades of marriage.
