Exit polls show Vice President Kamala Harris lost Latino men to President-elect Donald Trump — a significant blow to a party that's long relied on them as part of a broad coalition. The results were openly feared most of the past year by Democratic Party leaders and operatives.

Republicans flipped Democratic-controlled Senate seats in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Montana. In the latter three cases, defeated Sens. Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey and Jon Tester also ran ahead of Harris but couldn’t overcome their states’ shifts toward the GOP.

Democrat Ruben Gallego has beaten Republican Kari Lake in their closely watched US Senate race in Arizona, the BBC's US partner CBS News projects. Gallego, a 44-year-old Iraq War veteran who has served in the US House of Representatives, has a lead of about two points over Lake, 55, a former news anchor and an outspoken ally of Donald Trump.
