Liverpool head coach Arne Slot believes extending the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah is reflective of the "amazing ambitions" the club has going forward.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has joined Mohamed Salah in signing a new contract at the club. Like the Egyptian, the 33-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay at Anfield until the summer of 2027, completing a fine day for the Reds and manager Arne Slot.

In a post on the official Liverpool Instagram account, Van Dijk can be heard making a tongue-in-cheek quip at Salah after Anfield was the stage for his contract unveiling. The Dutchman's came in front of a red wall draped with artwork and pictures of the Reds captain's high points during his career on Merseyside.
