Paul Connelly, who worked his way up from patrol officer to the No. 2 spot in the San Diego Police Department over a 27-year career, has been picked as the next chief of police in Coronado.

The victim, Sonia Coronado, died at the scene from blunt force trauma to the head and torso. Greer Police Department and the Greenville County Coroner's Office are investigating the incident.
