Evacuation orders because of wildfires have ended in the North Carolina mountains where Hurricane Helene did damage 18 weeks ago. McDowell County Emergency Management said fires had burned in North Fork in the American Thread Road area,

The wildfire strikes an inland region of North Carolina that is still recovering from the damage wrought by Hurricane Helene in September.

On Tuesday at 2:34 p.m. the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC issued a wind advisory valid for Wednesday between midnight and 6 p.m. The advisory is for Caldwell Mountains, Burke Mountains and McDowell Mountains.
