According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) aurora forecast, the northern lights may be viewable in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and even Massachusetts tonight. The northern lights are typically most visible between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. according to NOAA.

If using a regular camera, photography experts told National Geographic to use wide-angle lenses, an aperture or F-stop of four or less and a focus set to the farthest possible setting. If using a smartphone, NOAA recommends turning on night mode and disabling flash.

On Tuesday, aurora lights were seen as far south as Central Illinois. Northern lights are possible again on Wednesday as G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storming is forecast.
