Shares of Apple charged higher on Monday, bucking the trend as its large-cap tech peers tumbled on concerns about overspending on AI.

The Chinese artificial intelligence app DeepSeek became the most downloaded free app in the U.S. on Apple’s app store and its low cost claims are putting the pressure on major American tech companies.

However, Trump's order only applies to the U.S. government's official position. Though headquartered in the U.S., corporations such as Google and Apple aren't beholden to the president's directive to rename the landmarks, raising questions as to whether they'll update their popular map services to reflect the government's stance.

Google said it would follow the Trump administration in renaming the Gulf of Mexico once the new name is updated in government sources.

Fortunately, it's super easy to turn off, but it goes to show that Apple Intelligence is here to stay in the walled garden.

Most of the big new features in the just-released iOS 18.3 are focused on Apple Intelligence, such as italicized message summaries (as partial damage control after numerous embarrassing and misleading examples).
