That’s no surprise given how much I loved Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal — the latter is the game I always play when testing the best gaming laptops and best gaming PCs. But id Software’s upcoming game isn’t just a copy of its predecessors. It’s something more daring… and brutal.
Doom: The Dark Ages ditches Doom Eternal’s acrobatics for raw, heavy power
There’s a lot of Frank Miller in the new Doom from id Software. According to game director Hugo Martin, Doom: The Dark Ages was heavily inspired by three of Miller’s works: seminal Batman comics Year One and The Dark Knight Returns, and the movie adaptation of 300.
At the third annual Xbox Developer Direct event, previously-unannounced games and release dates were revealed. And Ninja Gaiden 2 Black came out, too.
The latest look at the upcoming Doom prequel from the Xbox Developer Direct showed off the versatile Shield Saw, new vehicle segments, and even difficulty sliders.
