For the first time in what seems like an eternity, the Ottawa Senators have three goaltenders who can provide wins for the hockey club. With the emergence of Leevi Meriläinen, the excellence of Linus Ullmark, and the recent perseverance of Anton Forsberg, the Sens will need to make a decision in the near future when all three are healthy.

Is there a genuine debate about who should back up Linus Ullmark when he's healthy enough to play again? Could the Senators lean on both?

After missing almost a month of action with a back injury, goalie Linus Ullmark looks like he'll be ready to return to the lineup soon. At that point, with Anton Forsberg and Leevi Merilainen, the Senators will have three available goalies. This just in: there isn't room on the bench for two backup goalies.

Forsberg stopped 10 of 13 shots in relief in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Rangers. Leevi Merilainen allowed two goals on 16 shots before he was replaced by Forsberg at the 4:59 mark of the second period.

Artem Zub and Zack Ostapchuk each scored a goal and Anton Forsberg stopped 25 shots to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. Zub snapped a 1-1 tie in the third period with his second goal of the season.

Ottawa took a 2-1 lead 2:50 into the third period when Artem Zub wristed a shot through a bunch a bodies that got past New Jersey goalie Jacob Markstrom, who came into the game with a 21-8-5 record and 2.20 goals-against average. The Senators held the Devils to just three shots in the third period.

Forsberg turned aside 25 of 26 shots on goal in Sunday's 2-1 win over New Jersey. Forsberg was excellent Sunday in a tightly contested road victory, allowing less than three goals in a game for just the third time this season.

Igor Shesterkin made 20 saves, Alexis Lafreniere had a goal and an assist and the New York Rangers beat the Ottawa Senators 5-0 on Tuesday night. Arthur Kaliyev, Matt Rempe, Artemi Panarin and Will Cuylle also scored for the Rangers, who are 7-1-3 since Jan. 2 and have won three straight at home.
