A night that promised so much for Alex de Minaur ended with another trip back to the drawing board following a loss that will require some serious soul-searching.

Jelena Dokic has launched a staunch defence of Alex de Minaur and his performance against Jannik Sinner on Wednesday night after the Aussie was knocked out of the Australian Open in brutal fashion. De Minaur lost his 10th match in 10 attempts against the World No.1, going down 6-3 6-2 6-1 in the quarter-finals.

Earlier in the day, Iga Swiatek cruised past Emma Navarro 6-1, 6-2 in their Women’s Singles quarter-final while Madison Keys secured a surprising 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Elina Svitolina to set up a meeting with Swiatek tomorrow.
