After announcing he was recusing himself from the case because of this relationships with the two men, the Commonwealth's Attorney for Letcher County is urging people to stop spreading rumors about what may have happened in the shooting death of a judge there.

District Judge Kevin Mullins was shot inside the Letcher County Courthouse. Kentucky State Auditor of Public Accounts Allison Ball confirmed Mullins was the shooting victim in a post on social media.

A Kentucky sheriff is facing charges of first-degree murder after shooting and killing a local judge inside his chambers last week. Kentucky State Police say Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines shot District Judge Kevin Mullins several times following a short argument.
