Helldivers 2 is heading to the big screen, and we can only imagine the jaw-dropping action that can come out of a film adaptation of Arrowhead's award-winning video game sequel. Sony announced the production of the movie is in the works during their CES 2025 press conference,

Helldivers 2, from developer Arrowhead, is of course heavily inspired by cult classic sci-fi movie Starship Troopers. It sees soldiers of the future struggle to defend a fascist Super Earth regime against alien robots called Automatons and bugs called Terminids all the while preaching "Managed Democracy."

The Helldivers 2 film is one of a number of adaptations announced by Sony at CES, including film productions of Horizon Zero Dawn and Until Dawn, and an anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima — not to mention the release window for The Last of Us Season 2.
