This logo was used during the 1991 ITV franchise round. Carlton's 1993 launch identity was created by Lambie-Nairn. The oddly placed T is explained by the fact that in the first idents, the name "Carlton" would occasionally be transformed into "London".

The 1989 ITV logo, with "Part of the" above it and "Network" below it, fades in while colored a transparent white in the bottom right corner. Variants: If a show was either presented in Stereo or had subtitling available, a white box in the top right corner containing either "Stereo", "888", or both will be seen.

On one show, the Carlton logo is shown on top of the Celador logo and has "Christmas Entertainment for" on top of the former and the 1989 ITV logo on the bottom right of the screen. On one show, the logo is blue.

Logo: Over a blue (or orange/gold) background with revolving stars, we see the Carlton logo, which looks just like it did before, except with a drawing of a star on the upper right. The then-current ITV logo is shown below, along with the URL "<a class="external" href="http://www.carlton.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.carlton.com</a>".

Unlike Granada-owned regions, Carlton used dual-branding on its regional idents with the Carlton logo, so the Carlton Westcountry and Carlton Central regions were simply known as ITV1 Carlton. Granada-owned franchises preferred simply to place text of the region name under the ITV1 logo.

Some reissues of Carlton DVD releases in the ITV plc era will either keep this intact or mainly plaster this with the 2006 ITV DVD logo. On 22 January 1996, Carlton Video was renamed as "Carlton Home Entertainment". Later, this logo continued to appear on VHS releases until 5 September 1999. On 6 September 1999, a new look was launched and a star was added to the logo.
