The English Football League Trophy, officially known as Vertu Trophy for sponsorship reasons, is an annual English football knockout competition open to all clubs in EFL League One and EFL League Two and U-21 teams from Premier League and EFL Championship.

In 2004 it was re-branded as the Football League Championship before it was renamed the EFL Championship in 2016. The current champions of the league are Leicester City. They are also the most successful club in second tier, winning the title on eight occasions. [1]

The EFL is the largest single body of professional Clubs in European football and is responsible for administering and regulating the EFL, the Carabao Cup and the EFL trophy, as well as reserve and youth football.
